1.

Keep under constant review the development and implementation of
Barbados ' political and economic external relations.
|
2.

Receive reports and recommendations from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and other relevant authorities.
|
3.
|
Send for persons, papers and records.
|
4.
|
Appoint specialists and experts as advisors to the Committee as deemed necessary.
|
5.
|
Meet concurrently with other departmental committees to exchange information and views.
|
6.
|
Receive oral and written submissions from members of general public concerning matters relating to foreign affairs and foreign trade.
|
7.
|
Examine bills/legislation pertinent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and any other matters referred to it.
|
8.
|
Report recommendations and findings and submit such reports and findings to the Honourable the House of Assembly from time to time as may be considered appropriate.
|
9.
|
Convene at least once every quarter.
|
10.
|
Perform any other functions and tasks that may be referred to the Committee.

of Health: 1. Will the Minister state (a) How many, if any fluoroscopies
have been performed at the
Queen
Elizabeth
Hospital over the year
ended 6th March, 2006? (b) whether the number of fluoroscopies done
over the said year satisfied the need or demand for fluoroscopies, and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor? 2. Will the Minister state the amount, if
any of payments made to private laboratories by the Queen Elizabeth
Hospital and/or the Ministry of Health for the provision of barium enema
and barium meal tests for the year ended 6th March, 2006? 3. Will the
Minister state (a) How many, if any, angiograms have been performed
at the
Queen
Elizabeth
Hospital ? (b) whether the number of angiograms
done over the said year satisfied the need or demand for angiograms,
and (c) if not, the reasons therefor? 4. Will the Minister state (a)
if the need or demand for assessment of blood vessels in patients
suffering from diabetes and vascular diseases have been adequately
satisfied at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital over the year ended 6th March,
2006, and (b) if not, the reasons therefor?

of Health: 1 . Will the Minister state (a) Why is Ward A2 in the Queen

Elizabeth
Hospital now not functioning as a ward? (b) if patients spend
excessive periods as much as two days in the Accident and Emergency
before being admitted to a ward as a patient? (c) How many beds are in
the Medical Intensive Care Unit (M I C U) as at 6th March, 2006? (d)
whether the M I C U so constituted can meet the current need and
demand for the services that should be provided by such a facility? (e)
what plans, if any are in train for increasing the capacity of the M I C U
to deal with the increased demand likely to be occasioned by the influx
of visitors during the World Cup 2007 exercise?
